Legit Companies Hiring Online/Remote Workers

I said I would concentrate mostly on legit companies hiring online.  This post will be added to as time goes on, but here are some of my firsts on this post.

Surveys and Pierce Jobs

Swag Bucks

This site is mostly surveys, watching videos and some contests.  I did try this and it took forever to make any money.  Not only that but I ended up with a lot of junk mail in my email inbox.  I’ve got better things to do with my time.  However, I feel this is legitimate.

If you do try your luck here I would suggest that you get another email account just for this.  Swag Bucks pays in Amazon and Walmart gift cards.  Try your luck here:   http://www.swagbucks.com

Amazon Mechanical Turk

“MTurk” pays better than Swag Bucks and you don’t end up with junk email.  I have tried MTurk and have used my earnings to rent videos from Amazon.  According to someone on You Tube there is at least pocket money to be made here, if not more. Check it out here:  http://www.mturk.com

Transcription, Captioning and Translating

I tried captioning and it is not easy.   I have not tried translating at all because my only other language is Spanish and it certainly is not good enough to translate.

Transcription would be a possiblility for me because I have worked as a medical and scientific transcriptionist, but even after getting used to the company’s formatting I know that I will not make what the company says per minute.  They pay per audio minute, but it will take you longer than a minute to transcribe a minute of audio.  Rule of thumb is it will take you 3 minutes to transcribe 1 minute of audio.

Here are a few legitimate transcription and/or captioning companies:

Daily Transcription
https://dailytranscription.com
They pay $0.75 – 0.85 cents per minute.  That comes out to $51.00 per audio hours divided by 3 = $17.00 per hour.  Not bad if you type quickly.  You will also have to learn and get used to their formatting.  Daily Transcription also hires translators.

Transcribe Me
https://www.transcribeme.com/transcription-jobs
They pay $15-22 per audio hour divided by 3 = $7.33 per hour.

Rev
https://www.rev.com/freelancers/transcription
They pay $0.45 – 0.75 per audio minute.  That would work out to $15.00 per hour.

Keep in mind that once you get used to the company’s formatting you may make the higher end of the pay scale.  These companies do boast about their transcriptionists making good money.   Also, you don’t have to get up, get dressed nicely and spend time in traffic getting to and from your job.  You can work for these companies when you want and as often as you want.

There are more companies hiring for online transcriptionists, translators and captionists but I’ve just listed a few because I feel these are legitimate.
