Wealthy Affiliate Review: Built for Success, Free and Legitimate

Anyone can learn to how to build a successful online business.

It was 2015 when I first became a member of Wealthy Affiliate. However, it has been only recently that I have begun really working at it. I kept the free starter membership and used the free training, websites and tools. In my opinion, Wealthy Affiliate is built for success, free and legitimate. Yes, even the free membership is built for success. Within my first month of going premium I built another website and made money with it almost immediately.

Now, newly semi-retired (and dreaming of full retirement, folks), I have more time to devote to things I’m interested in. Gardening, cooking, RVs, traveling and blogging.

This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. This takes some work. What you put into it you get out of it. That said, it is perfect for beginners and experts alike.

Apparently this works for many people because it is the largest program of its kind in the world; there are over 1 million members. Wherever your travels take you Wealthy Affiliate will be there. You can work whenever you like, wherever you are.

The camaraderie with the other members was a major selling point for me. This system is built with this in mind. If you are coming from a background where the other members are very competitive or stoic toward each other, you are in for a very nice surprise here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Everyone is very helpful and communicative. If you need help with some seemingly complex issue with your website, just ask for help and chances are more than one person will offer help. Some of us are good at some things, and not at others. So we help each other.

No question is “stupid.” I’ve helped people figure out what their niche might be. For instance, ask yourself what some of your interests are, then narrow it down from there. And this can be a learning experience with something you are interested in and would like to learn more about. You don’t have to be all knowing on the subject; this website is a learning experience for me.

You have 24/7/365 IT support that is very quick to answer. I haven’t tested it (haven’t needed to), but I’m told by other members that it is in minutes, not hours or days. That is a comfort to me.

There are 2 levels of membership. The starter membership is free and you don’t need to plug in your credit card number to get it. The premium membership is $49/month.  There are no up sells; you get it all for this low price.

Also, if you buy a domain name through WA the price will always be the same. That is not the case when you buy a domain name elsewhere because you may find that it is more expensive in succeeding years.

You can see a better breakdown of the membership levels at the bottom of the page.

Wealthy Affiliate has the most comprehensive training platform in the world. This is the “basic” training you get in just the free starter membership:

  1. Getting Rolling
  2. Understanding How to Make Money Online
  3. Choose a Niche (this should be something you are interested in)
  4. Building Your Own Niche Website
  5. Setting Up Your Website (you get 2 free)
  6. Getting Your Site Ready for Search Engines (a simple and free way)
  7. Creating Your Initial Website Content (how to create quality content even if you are not a writer)
  8. Creating Custom Menus on Your Website
  9. Understanding Keywords (and access to a keyword search platform)
  10. Summary and Next Steps

When you have a premium membership the training and information seem infinite to me. There are live 1 hour classes every Friday that are available for replay anytime. There are 1000+ live training classes. In addition you have much more of the “formal” training.”

With the free starter membership you get 2 free websites and with the premium membership you get 50 websites at no extra cost. You also have a great SEO package and security. Building a website has been made super easy. There are over 1,000 designs to choose from at the premium level.

You do not have to be a writer and no one says you must. Just write like you talk. There is a built in grammar and spell checker for you.

This website was done on WordPress which is very versatile. You will learn how to navigate all its functions.

You will also have access to an awesome keyword tool.

You will learn how to interact with social platforms such as Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram.

Affiliate Marketing and Monetizing Your Website

In a nutshell, affiliate marketing is selling someone else’s product (for instance Walmart or Amazon) and getting a percentage. There is no need to keep any stock because this is all done through a link on your website. You will learn how to monetize your website. There are thousands of affiliate marketing opportunities: Amazon, Target, Walmart, Clickbank has many affiliate marketing opportunities, the list goes on.

I only promote products and services that I use and trust. However, I could do good research, relying on reviews and other consumer education, as well as finding out what the company has to say about their product.

I will tell you that I made money within the first month of going premium with Wealthy Affiliate. The money did not come from this website, but another one that I have. And, no, I did not make a lot of money, but it was enough to get excited about. There are many success stories.

The company was founded in 2005. There are members who have been there since the beginning. And there are plenty of members who have recently joined who are making a full time income. Really!

This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. This takes work. Your niche should be something you are interested in.

Members are not bombarded with more sales pitches. There is nothing else to buy; no up sells. The premium membership is $49./month and that is it. You have access to everything for that low price. That really is a low price considering what you will be getting (see below).

Where to Start

I invite you to become a starter member and be so impressed that you will go premium (most people do). You can play with it like I did for a while before going premium. Or you can work at it at night, early in the morning before you go to your full time job, your lunch hour . . . whenever is good for you. There are members who did just that and were able to quit their full time jobs.

Claim you financial freedom!

  1. I am a member of Wealthy Affiliate and what impressed me about this program, aside from the training and tools that goes with the membership, is the camaraderie amongst the members. You won’t get intimidated, everyone has the same energy, encouraging, and helping each other out to be successful!
    It’s just an amazing community!

  2. Something about WA that I loved from Day One was the fact it lacked upsells, which is huge, allowed a free Starter membership with no requirement for a credit card, another plus, and the fact it came with a bundle of resources like the Jaaxy keyword search, site hosting, site email, etc. You literally can’t beat this as a Premium member, which I bought into about a week after signing up as a Starter.

  3. As a member of WA myself, albeit only a month and a half, I didn’t realize the wealth of information, training and support a member gets from the WA community. It’s definitely worth the $49/monthly fees or $359/yearly.

I can tell you as a full-time college student I ( well my parents actually ) spend about $50,000 yearly on my education. By the time I graduate, the cost of getting the degree is about a quarter of a million dollars if not more. I would be lucky to find a job that pays $50,000 a year.

With that kind of money, I am spending at college, you would expect 24/7/365 support from the university. HelI No.

And so if anybody is thinking of online business as an affiliate marketer, don’t ever think that $49/month is too much money. Besides, you don’t need to wait 4 years before you can earn money. If you put in the work and time, within a few months you’ll be making money with WA. And you If you think that education is expensive, try stupidity.
